Free Product Solutions Architect - Remote

Position: Product Solutions Architect

Location: Remote

Functional Description:

Architecture oversight and support for migration of Internet Service Portal
applications to AWS cloud that are used by airlines to sell internet
onboard. This portal runs in the cloud and has some components on the
airside. The existing portal in is PHP and initial migration will be lifted
and shift with some transformation, target state needs to be determined
later.

Technical Requirements:

- Advanced understanding of communications, and knowledge in IoT
solutions (with secure OTA approaches).
- Advanced architectural and technical documentation skills
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve
complex problems.
- The ability to quickly learn, comprehend and document communications
systems of considerable complexity, working in radio system, control system
(software) and network operations.
- Under general direction, has latitude to determine use of resources to
meet schedules and goals; may adapt departmental plans and priorities to
address resource and operational challenges.
- Advanced knowledge of embedded software, specification, development,
analysis, and test.
- Advanced understanding of cloud architecture and capabilities of at
least one major cloud provider
- Advanced understanding of AWS Products such as Data Lake, Kinesis S3
Firehouse, Cloud Storage S3, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, App Engine, Cloud
SQL, EC2, ECS, Lamda.
- Experience and Hands on Skills with Docker, Kubernetes.
- Experience and Hands on Skills with Database such as
Arura/MySql/MariaDB, No SQL, Dynamo or similar.
- Advanced understanding of security best practices
- Advanced knowledge in Agile software development practices preferred
- Proficient in DevSecOps concepts
- Use and presentation of spreadsheets and PowerPoint for depiction of
system architecture and software.
- Ability to lead and participate in cross functional, and third-party
contract teams, to achieve key milestones and objectives for complex
projects. Determine priorities and set own schedule in an environment of
conflicting requests and demands, to best achieve primary goal.
- Advanced or unique subject matter expertise in area of specialization
with significant responsibility. Applies expertise in managing projects,
programs, initiatives, contracts, or agreements.
- Provide leadership for a project team or work group (which may include
matrix management or third-party contractors) through advanced knowledge in
area of specialization and serves as a best practice/quality resource.
- Assists in development of new methodologies and principles. Taking a
broad perspective to develop solutions that are creative, effective, and
often unique.
- Earn and carry respect of peers and subordinates; provide leadership
outside and across organizations.
- Develops advanced technological ideas, architect their development and
integration into a products and systems.
- Able to work with teams to evaluate data and make decisions where
erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to
achieve critical organizational goals.
- Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical
research studies and applications.
- Goals generally communicated in issue, solution, or project
improvement terms with outputs resulting in requirements and project plans.
- Excellent written and spoken English and presentations skills,
excellent listening skills. Communication skills are critically important
to this role as you address multiple level audiences
- Familiarity with business acumen such and Business Case, P&L, OpEx,
CapEx, ROI, NPV etc.
- Experience in aerospace and/or satellite communications industries
preferred
- Demonstrable leadership skills (experience in a management role
preferred)
- Experienced in one or more programming languages and understanding of
programming standards. Experienced in leading code inspections and reviews.
- Experience with Python, C/C++,JavaScript, golang, node.js or similar
languages.
- Familiarity with security protocols and message processing preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of IP communications, switching and routing

Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Computer Sciences,
Computer Engineering or other related engineering degree, or equivalent
experience.
- 10+ years of programming in at least two languages: C, C++, Java,
JavaScript, Python.
- 5+ year?s architecture experience in complex, highly transactional and
scalable applications .
- 5+ years? experience architecting using AWS, Google or Azure Cloud
environments.
- 10+ years? experience using RDBMS such as MySQL, SQL Server,
PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, or similar and No-SQL databases such as MongoDB, SQL
Lite, AWS Dynamo DB, or similar
- 3+ years? experience using Messaging and Streaming technologies such
as JMS, MQ, Kafka, or similar
- 5+ years? experience using design and productivity tools like Visio,
draw.io, lucid charts, MS-Office, etc.
- 3-5 years? experience using DevOps tools like GitLab, Jenkins,
Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, or similar.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

- AWS Cloud Certification or other cloud certification is a plus
- Certification with Architecture Frameworks such as TOGAF, or similar
is a plus
