Family Carer Adviser (Communities)
£23,080 per annum including occasional evening and weekend working (£12,475 pro rata for 20 hours per week)
Based in Waveney

Suffolk Family Carers is an innovative and creative charity, recognised nationally as the overall GSK Impact Award winner 2019. We work in partnership with over 100 organisations to deliver a range of services that impact positively on the lives of adult, young adult and young carers.

This a permanent role within the Communities Team. As a Family Carer Adviser (Communities) you will help develop this valuable service in the Waveney area and identify and provide support for family carers and raise awareness within the community. You will be required to provide presentations, resources and education to GP practices, pharmacies, employers, care agencies and other community based organisations in order to facilitate improved support for carers (including access to Employers for Carers website)

You will also provide one-to-one information, emotional support, advice, guidance and solution focused support (using signs of safety and health coaching skills) to family carers.

As part of this role, you will need to identify and engage with community based services and activities that could support family carers.

Our Ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills, with the ability to relate to all people. To have an understanding of the impact of the caring role, being able to build rapport with family carers and have the ability to communicate in an empathetic way.

We are looking for someone who shows initiative, has the ability to operate within a busy environment, responding flexibly and sensitively to a variety of situations. You will need to be able to work autonomously at the same time as being a good team player.

Due to the nature of this role you will need to have the ability to travel between rural locations as required.

This is a great opportunity to join the team at the start of our new 5 year contract delivering an excellent service to family carers.

This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will be carried out following acceptance of any offer made to the successful candidate
